Experience deep relaxation with reiki in Norwich

East Meets West ¦ Reiki in Norwich

Reiki is a gentle spiritual healing practice, developed by Mikao Usui in the early 1920s after a period of meditation on Mount Kurama.

I first came to reiki through my own interest in meditation. I practised it for a few years before receiving formal training. Once I’d felt the difference it made for me and my family, it felt like it was time to take it to the next level. I set out to find a teacher and trained with Giulietta Spudich, an ex-colleague I liked. Since training, I have personally benefited a lot from reiki, and my family have too, which is why I’m glad to offer it to others as Reiki in Norwich, alongside my conventional therapy work.

What to Expect From a Reiki Session in Norwich

During a reiki session you will stay fully clothed and rest comfortably on a treatment couch (or seated if preferred). I will generally hover my hands above the body to perform the healing practice. Occiaisionally I may use a light touch, and I will ask you if this is ok first. It is an opportunity for you to relax, and people are often surprised how the practice can often enable busy minds to settle.

Sessions last 50mins and take place close to Norwich (near the hsopital). Most people describe feeling calm, warm or deeply rested afterwards, though everyone’s experience is different. Before we start, we’ll have a short chat about how you’re feeling and anything you’d like to know.

How Reiki Can Support Relaxation and Wellbeing

Reiki gives you an hour to pause, breathe and let your body rest. Research shows that Reiki can help promote deep relaxation, reduce stress and ease mild pain and anxiety.

Many people come to reiki healing in Norwich because they want a calmer, quieter space alongside the rest of their life. It suits anyone curious about a gentle, spiritual approach to wellbeing.

Reiki is a complementary practice.

About Laura: Reiki in Norwich

I never expected that I would ever be someone offering reiki. For years this was totally unscientific garbage to me.

But I am grateful that life unfolds in unexpected ways. Since learning meditation, I found a lot of odd synchronicities happening in my life. And then at some point it reached a critical threshold I couldn’t ignore. And that’s how I came to train in reiki!

In a session feel free to arrive how you are. You can simply lay down and relax. There is the option for background music. In general I discourage talking during the session so I can keep my mind and intention more clearly focused on the healing for you.

Your Reiki Session in Norwich: Arrive, Rest, Return

Arrive

Come as you are. There's nothing to prepare and nothing you need to believe. Wear something comfortable, and we'll take a few moments to settle in and talk about how you're feeling. If there's anything you'd prefer, such as no touch at all, just tell me.

Rest

You'll lie or sit comfortably, fully clothed, and close your eyes. I hold my hands just above the body, with an occasional light touch if it feels right, and I stay quiet so I can give the session my full attention. There's nothing to do but rest and let whatever arises, arise. Sessions last 50 mins with a minimum of 30 mins healing.

Return

When we finish, you're given time to come back gently to the room, with a glass of water and a few quiet moments. Everyone's experience is different. Some people feel deeply calm or lighter, and some feel tired for the first day or so, which is completely normal. It helps to leave some space afterwards and be kind to yourself.

Experience deep rest and gentle stillness

What is reiki?

What is reiki?

Reiki is a gentle Japanese practice, developed by Mikao Usui in the early 1920s. I hold my hands just above the body, with occasional light touch, while you rest. Many people find it deeply relaxing.

Experiences vary. Many people notice warmth, tingling, heaviness or a deep sense of calm, and some simply feel relaxed or drift off.

Sessions last 50 mins, with at least 30 mins of reiki during a session. Due to the nature of complementary therapies, its not possible to offer guidelines for how quickly a therapy will help – you have to try it and see. Some people schedule regularly reiki as part of their wellbeing routine.

No. Many people come out of curiosity, and I was sceptical myself for years. You don’t need to believe in anything, just rest.

Reiki isn’t a medical treatment and it doesn’t replace medical advice or treatment. Many people find it calming. While it hasn’t been studied extensively scientifically, there is emerging evidence that it can help people to relax and to manage pain.

No. You stay fully clothed throughout.

I mostly hold my hands just above the body, with occasional light touch, and only if you’re comfortable with it. Just tell me if you’d prefer no touch at all.

There is no real preparation. Wear comfortable clothes.

Many people feel calm or deeply rested. Some feel tired for the first day or so, which is normal, so leave some quiet time afterwards if you can. Drink plenty of water.

Personally I prefer not to offer reiki online as a zoom call or similar due to screen fatigue. I do offer reiki as a shorter distance healing upon request – please contact me via my booking page to arrange.

Reiki is a relaxation practice and many people find it calming. If anxiety is affecting your daily life, I also offer anxiety therapy in Norwich, and it’s always worth speaking to your GP.
